Finding the correct size jewellery is essential for a comfortable fit, safe healing, and a look you’ll love. This guide breaks down the basics of gauge, length, and diameter to help you make the right choice for your piercing.
Gauge refers to the thickness of the jewellery post or ring. The key rule: The smaller the gauge number, the thicker the jewellery.
20G (0.8mm) - Nostril, Ear Lobe
18G (1.0mm) - Nostril, Ear Lobe, Cartilage
16G (1.2mm) - Helix, Tragus, Ear Cartilage, Lip, Eyebrow
14G (1.6mm) - Navel, Tongue, Nipple, Industrial
12G (2.0mm) - Stretched Ear Lobes
10G (2.5mm) - Further stretched
Understanding how jewellery is measured helps ensure a secure and comfortable fit.
Length: Measured from the flat base to the start of threading, not including any decorative ends (e.g. gems or balls).
Diameter: For rings, this is the internal width—measured straight across the inside of the ring.
Choosing the right style of jewellery helps improve comfort and ensures a good fit for your piercing location.
